Hi, I'm Tara BigBow

I am a citizen of the Kiowa Tribe from the BigBow family and descendant of the War Chief, Zepko-ette BigBow. My family consists of many artists including my grandfathers, Harding and Woodrow BigBow, both of which have art displayed in galleries throughout the world. Although I did not inherit their skills in painting, I do have the same drive for creating art in different genres.

At the age of 8, I began crocheting, which led me to knitting, sewing and eventually into beadwork. I'm very thankful to my Aunt Michelle Emerson who taught me the fundamentals of creating the beadwork that our Native people have passed down for generations. Being able to express myself as an artist makes me feel connected to my roots and brings me a lot of joy and peace.
